"Construction completed for Kumamoto Medical Association Vierendeel beams have been used to create a large span on the irregular trapezoid plane. Kumamoto continues to suffer from the aftermath of the earthquake last year. Thus, we have created two giant spaces made of steel through the installation of seismic resistant panels that minimize the damage from large earthquakes."
Tosaka gave a keynote presentation on the "Effectiveness of Inverse Analysis in Engineering and its Future Development", in which he introduced "creative analysis", a concept derived from the existing "inverse analysis". The accolades he received from the audience included an appreciation for the distinction between science and engineering, and a renewed awareness of inverse analysis as the quintessence of engineering.
Traditional and modern techniques were merged to complete the timber structure of Shorinji, a holy temple in Komagome, Tokyo. The traditional Kango joint technique of fitting two beams into one column was simplified to streamline the assembling process and reduce the construction period.

Discussion and talks at the 22nd annual meeting on computational engineering were facilitated by Tosaka
At the session of "Inverse Problem Analysis and Practical Application", Tosaka facilitated a discussion on the latest results presented in 9 research papers. He also delivered a presentation on "Tensor and its Expression" and "Cauchy's Stress Theorem" under the theme of "Fostering Engineers and Computational Engineering", in which he exposited essential logic in order to understand continuum mechanics, the basic theory of computational engineering.

Construction complated on Immanual General Mission Funabashi Church
The modern-looking protestant church with bare concrete walls was built in Funabashi, Chiba. The challenge of the structure design was to install openings at the top and eaves that allow ample natural light to flow into the chapel, and also a cross shape slit on the corner of its sacred wall. Given that a rigid structure would not have been suitable for this design, this dynamic design stands unobstructed by joist and columns through the TWFS (thick wall and floor structure) method invented by TIS. Please come and visit and enjoy this holy space where fantastical light effects overlap with the echoing of hymns..
